Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Teen Edition Season 1 ex-housemate Niña Jose is all grown up and raring to bare, but sophisticatedly, please.

July 2007 nag-expire ang contract ni Niña sa Star Magic ng ABS-CBN, at December 2007 lang siya pumirma with Manny Valera’s DMV Entertainment. She is now taking up dance lessons and intensive acting workshops sa DMV Studios.

Maraming negative reactions ang nabuo sa sinabi ni Mariel Rodriguez na “Kadiri ang showbiz” sa loob ng Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) house habang kausap ang celebrity housemate na si Jon Avila.

Hindi matanggap ng ilan sa mga kaibigan ni Mariel sa showbiz ang sinabi niya. Nag-aalala tuloy sila na baka hindi ang totoong Mariel ang sweet at palabating TV host ang nakakahalubilo nila sa mga showbiz gatherings. Hindi raw ba muna nag-isip ang TV host bago nagbitiw ng ganitong salita, considering na host pa naman siya ng isang showbiz-oriented talk show sa ABS-CBN, ang Entertainment Live.

“Malaking tulong si Mariel sa loob ng Bahay. At the same time, dahil sa kanya mataas ang ratings ng show,” diin ng aming source.

Pagkatapos ng opening number ng Season 1 housemates sa Big Dome, isinalang batch by batch ang mga housemates sa “hot seat” with Cristy Fermin ang Jobert Sucaldito. Dito unang pinasagot si Uma sa sinabi ni Wendy na “sana huwag na lang maki-ride” si Uma. “Ako, makiki-ride on? Kung makiki-ride on ako, doon sa sikat. Makiki-ride on ako sa mas sikat sa kanya!” sabi ni Uma, na pinalakpakan ng audience sa Big Dome. Ang sabi pa ni Wendy, ang pagkakaiba raw nila ni Uma ay mas mahaba ang buhok niya sa Israeli housemate. “Kung mahaba ang buhok niya, mas makinis naman ang balat ko sa kanya!” sagot naman ni Uma. Moreover, Gee-ann, Bodie and Mickey became good friends inside the house and eventually, the friendship blossomed into something more. Both Mickey and Bodie admitted that they like the Cheering Chick, while fans couldn’t tell who is more special to Gee-ann, as she thought of Mickey as boyfriend material but she gushes while talking about her crush “Piolo” who turned out to be Bodie. But alas, Bodie was evicted from the house and their love triangle temporarily took a back seat. Now that they’re all outside the house and free to pursue anyone they like, will Bodie and Mickey finally have the guts to make the moves on Gee-ann? The throng of I-hate-Wendy Big Brother fans must have been mortified last Saturday night as their wish had been granted. And that was for Wendy Valdez not to be the Big Winner at the elaborate Big Night at the Big Dome.

But Wendy still placed third, having outvoted odds on favorite Gee-Ann Abrahan who placed fourth. Just by being in the Big 4, Wendy’s career (on television and in the movies) is now assured with Dream Big Productions behind her.

We heard she’s being groomed to be the next Zeny Zabala, Carol Varga, Bella Flores all rolled into one, and her ex-housemate boyfriend Bruce Quebral as the new Van de Leon, Paquito Diaz, Boy Garcia also all rolled into one.

Beatriz Saw, a Chinese Filipino, from Baao, Camarines Sur, was declared the Big Winner, after garnering 30.29 percent of the total text/online votes cast for the four remaining housemates. She edged out another favorite, Mickey Perz, the Filipino Swiss hip-hop dancer, to win the million peso cash prize and others, including a new house and car.

Bea’s victory, in a way, extricates the Big Brother production staff headed by Laurenti Dyogi from the malicious insinuations of those who openly expressed their loathing of Wendy Valdez that there had been a grand design to make the model, former beauty pageant contestant and recent girlfriend of housemate Bruce Quebral as the new season’s Big Winner.

As Dyogi pointed out during a press conference days before the Big Night, “ABS-CBN will not allow any hanky panky in the show. There has never been an attempt to rig the results, and neither to manipulate the show to give a particular housemate an advantage over the others.”

I saw Dyogi smiling on the TV screen immediately after Bea was called on to the stage to the cheers of many who felt relieved Wendy wasn’t the one walking down the stage and waiving to the crowd.

The Bicolanos, I am told, are jubilant in Bea’s victory. Finally, someone, not from Cebu or Metro Manila, who hogged the limelight in the more than a hundred days inside the Pinoy Big Brother House. While Bea might not have been as controversial as Wendy, or as popular as Gee-Ann, she charmed everyone with her simplicity and honesty. That was the clincher that had more than a million Filipinos across the archipelago voting for her.

Well, that cant stop other people from doing so since they are both chinese and started their career by being the big winner. “Kahit po naiinis kayo sa akin, pag sinasabi ninyo ‘yong pangalan ko, at least pinapansin ninyo ako. Thank you!” said Wendy Valdez to the crowd booing during the Big Night of the Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) last Saturday, June 30, at the Araneta Coliseum.

 

Though the Big Dome was filled with jeers whenever her name was mentioned, the former beauty queen still finished as Pinoy Big Brother’s Third Big Placer, receiving over 1,200,000 votes.

 

Again, Wendy was booed by the audience during her number with fellow housemate Bruce Quebral on ASAP yesterday, July 1.

 

How is she taking all the love and hate that she is getting from the public?

 

“‘Yong love po, sobra po [appreciated] kasi mula pagkabata, feeling ko hindi ako masyadong minamahal. Pero ‘yong love po, sobrang tine-treasure ko po. ‘Yong hate po, ina-accept ko po. Nagkamali po ako and I admit it,” said Wendy in her live interview on The Buzz.

 

She stressed: “Ang masakit lang po, ‘yon pong lumabas ‘yong nanay ko, binu-boo pa rin ng mga tao. Sana po kung may pagkakamali po ako sa inyo, ako na lang po sana. Huwag na lang po sana idamay ‘yong pamilya ko kasi wala naman po silang kasalanan. Hindi po kasalanan ng nanay ko na ako naging anak niya. Hindi niya ako pinili. At ‘yong mga kapatid ko, hindi nila kasalanan na kapatid nila ako.

 

“So parang awa na lang po, respeto na lang po bilang tao. Kung gusto ninyo po ako ngaragin, ako na lang po. Huwag na po ang pamilya ko. Wala silang kinalaman dito. Hindi sila ang pumasok sa Big Brother. ‘Yon lang po.”

 

She also pleaded to the public to spare Bruce from the hoots against her.

 

“Hindi ko po siya pinilit na maging [focused lang sa akin], pero nagpapasalamat ako na ganoon siya sa akin—may taong nagmamahal sa akin na ganoon… Nagmamakaawa po ako na please, huwag nyo pong idamay [si Bruce] kung galit po kayo sa akin. Huwag n’yo pong idamay si Bruce kung mahal niya po ako. Siguro po may something sa akin na kamahal-mahal na nakita niya at sana makita niyo rin,” she appealed.

 

Wendy got the public’s attention when she had a rift with the other female housemates—winner Bea Saw and fourth placer Gee Ann. She said she felt slighted because the two openly nominated her. She then accused the two of being “fake” and “plastic.” She also began taunting the two and making snide remarks.

 

Bea chose to ignore Wendy. Gee-Ann cried buckets and was given sedatives.

 

“Hindi po ako masamang tao. Mayroon po akong mga pangit na ugali, aminado po ako doon. Lahat naman po ng tao nagagalit pag nasasaktan. Lahat po ng tao may masamang ugali. Ang pagkakamali ko lang po siguro, hindi ko po siya nakayang itago sa lahat ng maraming camera dahil pakiramdam ko, nasa loob lang ako ng bahay,” explained Wendy.

 

She added, “Kung may strategy sana ako, nagbait-baitan na lang ako para hindi ako binu-boo. ‘Yong nga po ‘yong gusto kong sabihin. Alam ko po, sinasabi ko po sa inyo na hindi po ako perpekto. Alam ko po nagkamali ako. Alam ko po ‘yong ginawa ko at hindi ko dinedepensa ‘yong sarili ko. Pero hindi po ako masamang tao. ‘Yon lang po ‘yong sasabihin ko. Nagkamali ako, pero hindi po ako masamang tao. ‘Yon lang po, sana maintindihan ninyo.

 

“Naiintindihan ko po kung ganyan po ang [reception] sa akin ng mga tao, may mga tao na hindi nakaintindi sa akin. Naiintindihan ko po. The moment na pumasok ako sa Big Brother, alam ko po na kakalkalin ang buhay ko. Alam kong ise-share ko ang buhay ko, kung ano man ang ugali ko noon hindi ko binago.”

 

Wendy also clarified that she wasn’t striving to win the plum.

 

Sa history ng kahit na anong reality show sa Pilipinas ay first time lang nangyari na “napagtulungan” ng madla ang isang contestant. At nangyari ito sa PBB Big Four housemate na si Wendy Valdez. Isang linggo bago siya lumabas sa Big Brother house ay katakut-takot na pambabatikos na ang inabot ni Wendy from televiewers. Maraming email ang naglabasan na puro kasiraan sa kanyang pagkatao at pagkababae ang nilalaman. At ang lahat ng ito ay consequence lamang ng pinakitang ‘pagmamaldita’ ni Wendy sa loob ng bahay.

 

Ngayon ngang nakabalik na siya sa outside world, mas lalong naramdaman ng ex-housemate ang impact ng sinasabi niyang pagpapakatotoo sa loob ng bahay. Hindi nga raw niya nagawang magpakatao kaya ganun na lamang ang galit ng madla sa kanya. Paglabas ng bahay, naoverwhelmed si Wendy sa boo at paninigaw sa kanya sa Big Dome kaya naman sinabi niyang sana ay pagsalitain muna siya.

Inako ni Wendy ang mga pagkakamali niya sa loob ng bahay. Hihintayin na lang daw niya na mapatawad siya ng tao sa mga ginawa niya at nakahanda siyang maghintay para lang matanggap siya bilang si Wendy. Nakiusap na lang siya na sana ay huwag idamay ang pamilya niya sa galit sa kanya ng tao. Kaya niya raw tanggapin lahat ng mga pambabatikos sa kanya pero hindi niya kayang pati nanay at mga kapatid niya ay idamay sa gulo. Pati si Bruce Quebral, ang housemate na nakarelasyon niya, ay pinananawagan din ni Wendy. Sana raw ay hindi na rin ito madamay sa galit ng maraming tao sa kanya.

Tinanghal na 3rd placer si Wendy sa Big Four kung saan nakakuha rin siya ng may 1.2 million votes. Pang-apat si Gee-an Abrahan, pang-2nd placer naman si Mickey Perz at Big Winner naman si Beatrice Saw ng Bicol. Ang pagpasok ni Wendy sa Big Four ay umani ng violent reactions from televiewers dahil na rin sa obvious hatred ng tao sa modelong housemate. Binalot ng malaking kontrobersiya ang season 2 ng PBB na may kinalaman lahat kay Wendy na diumano’y paborito ito ng management kaya nagawang ‘pabalikin’ sa PBB house. Sinagot na ito ng pamunuan ng PBB sa pangunguna ni Direk Lauren Dyogi at pinabulaanan nila ang kumalat na balita.
