Brad Pitt ages backwards. Robert Downey solves an earth-shaking mystery. Daniel Radcliffe unmasks the half-blood prince. Matt Damon masterminds a game of deception. And Jim Carrey discovers the power of the word “Yes.” Discover these cinematic spectacles as Warner Bros. proudly announces its line-up of films for 2009!
“Sherlock Holmes.” Robert Downey Jr. brings the legendary detective to life as he has never been portrayed before. Jude Law stars as Holmes’ trusted colleague, Watson, a doctor and war veteran who is a formidable ally for Sherlock Holmes. And Rachel McAdams stars as Irene Adler, the only woman ever to have bested Holmes and who has maintained a tempestuous relationship with the detective.
“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and Wizard worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching.

Katrina makes a comic splash in “One Night Only”

In this Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) official entry, Katrina shares the spotlight with Alessandra de Rossi, Jennylyn Mercado, Valerie Concepcion and Diana Zubiri.
“Friends kami dito ng character ni Diana tapos we don’t get to meet the other girls until that one fateful night na magkikita-kita kami at mangyayari ang lahat sa isang hotel.”
In the movie, the girls cross paths when earlier events lead them to Lovers’ Hideaway where they will spend one of the most unforgettable nights of their lives. Karina clarifies that the film, which faced casting issues prior to filming came out as what it is destined to be in the first place. “It’s a very fun movie. Something I haven’t done in a long while after doing too much crying on TV with ‘Magdusa Ka’ and ‘Obra.’ This time, I get to make people laugh and make them laugh at what we get ourselves into dito sa pelikulang ito.” -Yehey Entertainment (complete story)

Transsiberian 2008 (Short movie review)
Transsiberian is a thriller set on the legendary train that links the Far East and Europe, running from China and Mongolia to Russia.
Following a stay in Beijing, Roy and Jessie, a couple who are going through a rocky patch, decide to give their relationship one last go and have another adventure together, traveling on the Transsiberian from China to Moscow through exotic, wild and snow-laden places.
On the train, Roy and Jessie discover that the days of the Transsiberian’s glorious luxury have faded since the fall of the U.S.S.R. The famous train’s former glamor has disappeared, leaving cold steel carriages and taciturn fellow passengers, reputed to include drug traffickers. They take refuge in the company of a fellow western couple who arrive in their shared compartment, Carlos and Abby, who travel throughout the world giving language classes and re-selling handcraft, such as, on this occasion, Russian Matryoshka dolls.
Everything is going well until the four decide to get off the train at one stop. Roy gets separated from the rest of the group and the train carries on with the other three already back on board. Jessie, by now extremely worried, has no other option but to get off at the next station and wait until Roy comes on the following train. Abby and Carlos offer to wait with her. However, while they wait for him, Carlos tries to take advantage of Jessie and, in trying to defend herself, she ends up accidentally killing him. Terrified, she left the corpse in the snow. She then returns to the station, where Roy has finally arrived. Back together at last, Jessie tries to forget about what has happened. But the nightmare is only just beginning.
She soon discovers that Carlos was in fact a drug dealer who was being pursued by corrupt police officers, and they are now chasing her. Unwittingly, Roy and Jessie get caught up in the dark world of smuggling and betrayal. And they know that while the train is in motion, there is no means of escape!

Well, I am not usually into writing movie reviews but as I had just seen this, I still have a suspense hang-over.
You’d surely get the suspense feeling you wanted. I usually don’t find suspense thriller movies thrilling enough. This one got my heart pounding fast in several scenes. Besides, I can relate to them because I already rode in one of those long haul trains.

The movie I do not like, earned 111m
As of yesterday, A Very Special Love, with the hot tandem of John Lloyd and Sarah Geronimo as lead actors, starring in the original full length feature under Star Cinema, had earned P111M.
This makes the movie a certified blockbuster. Contrary to the projection of most entertainment writers that it would flop because Sarah and John Lloyd don’t have chemistry. They have proven so far that with or without chemistry, a movie with a good story and fine direction such as from Cathy Molina Garcia is capable of earning big money at the box office.

Most “WANTED” by flicker pirates

Out of the four flicker pirates caught last week of June, four were caught copying the blockbuster Angelina Jolie starrer, Wanted. The Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council (MPAFPC) with Ric Camaligan as president launched an intensified and integrated anti-flicker piracy campaign in cooperation with the National Bureau of Investigation. Since they failed to show the permit to copy, the following flicker pirates were arrested, inquested and detained at the NBI.

Sharon Cuneta, Gabby Concepcion and KC Concepcion in a movie?
==
I wonder why Sharon doesn’t want to do the movie with them? They were family once, right? It would be great if Sharon would do such a move. Will senator Kiko Pangilinan get jealous? I don’t think he is the jealous type. This will be a big break for the three of them, working together like a family once again.
