Jennylyn’s assistant slapped with 19 counts of qualified theft
Anyway, in Jennylyn’s case,
Jennylyn Mercado filed 19 cases of falsification of commercial documents against her former assistant Rowena “Mel” Pulmano at the Quezon City court yesterday at 6 pm.
As Jennylyn’s assistant, Mel took care of paying her bills and other obligations, such as her car and housing loans. She also took care of her banking matters, such as deposits, withdrawals, and requests for checkbooks.
She gave her the authority to receive any and all papers, documents, checks, statements and other papers related to her current account number 160-001463-2. On Oct. 7 2008, Jennylyn discovered some of her checks which cleared contained her forged signature. After verification with the UCPB, she was informed that a total of ten (10) checkbooks were released to Mel from February to July 2008.
Three of the checks with the amounts of P60,000, P20,000 and P20,000, were issued to Mel. She never issued those checks. As of Oct. 7, 2008, her current account number had a
